A Scattering Services provides two basic services:

Private Attended Sea-Burial

Groups of up to 6 attend with the captain and mate on a voyage out 3 to 5 nautical miles offshore. A family member,clergyman or Captain Dave performs the ceremony. The captain records the exact location, before performing the “Circle of Remembrance” by slowly circumnavigating the scattering site. This is followed by a  cruise back to harbor.  Water, soft drinks and any beverages of the family’s choice may be brought aboard . The vessel is restroom equipped. Bringing a few loose flowers for everyone attendance allows everyone to be participative

Unattended Sea-Burial

Upon receiving the cremated remains, Captain Dave will voyage out 3 to 5 nautical miles offshore. Once on location, Captain Dave reads aloud any words or poetry provided to him by the family or chooses a reading of his own before scattering the cremated remains or depositing the biodegradable urn into the sea along with flowers if so requested. The captain records the exact location, before performing the “Circle of Remembrance” by slowly circumnavigating the scattering site. This is followed by a  cruise back to harbor.
